The University of Twente's TechMed Centre has joined Nordic Proof as an Affiliate Partner, strengthening connections between the MedTech Twente ecosystem and leading healthcare and testing environments across the Nordic countries. Bent-Håkon Lauritzen, Coordinator of Nordic Proof, and Remke Burie, Managing Director of the TechMed Centre at the University of Twente, signed the agreement at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Stockholm on 10 September.
The partnership creates new opportunities for health technology companies to access expertise, testing facilities and clinical environments in both the Netherlands and the Nordic region. By joining Nordic Proof, TechMed Centre further expands its international network and contributes to accelerating the development, validation and implementation of innovative healthcare technologies.
The Twente region is home to a strong and closely connected medtech ecosystem, where companies, healthcare providers, researchers, educational institutions and public organisations work together to develop and implement healthcare innovations. At the heart of this ecosystem is the University of Twente's internationally recognised TechMed Centre, which provides state-of-the-art facilities for research, innovation, simulation, training and validation of medical technology.
The close collaboration between researchers, entrepreneurs and healthcare professionals helps accelerate the journey from concept and prototype to clinical practice. The ecosystem offers expertise in fields such as medical devices, robotics, diagnostics, sensor technologies and data-driven healthcare, supporting companies throughout the innovation process.
By joining Nordic Proof, TechMed Centre strengthens its international network and creates new opportunities for collaboration between Dutch and Nordic healthcare innovators, researchers and companies.
"Joining Nordic Proof creates a direct connection between the MedTech Twente ecosystem and leading healthcare and testing environments across the Nordic countries. Together, we can give companies access to complementary expertise and support the development of technologies that make a meaningful difference for patients and healthcare professionals," says Remke Burie of the University of Twente's TechMed Centre.
Nordic Proof provides structured access to leading hospitals, healthcare institutions and testing environments across the Nordic countries. Through the network, companies can connect to the right expertise and test facilities, carry out studies and validation activities, and gather the evidence needed for product development, implementation and market access.
The new partnership will make it easier for Nordic health technology companies to access expertise and testing opportunities in the Netherlands. At the same time, Dutch companies will benefit from improved access to Nordic Proof's network of healthcare organisations, test environments and innovation partners across the Nordic region.
This creates new opportunities for international collaboration and helps companies develop and validate technologies in diverse healthcare settings.
"This partnership strengthens Nordic Proof's ability to support companies across borders. Our ambition is to help health technology companies test earlier, learn faster and develop solutions that work in real healthcare settings. The competence and facilities in Twente complement our Nordic partners very well," says Bent-Håkon Lauritzen, Coordinator of Nordic Proof.
As an Affiliate Partner, TechMed Centre (University of Twente) will be included in Nordic Proof's company referral processes, partner activities and the development of new collaboration opportunities. The partnership takes effect immediately.
Together, the partners will work to connect companies with relevant testing and co-development environments, facilitate cross-border innovation projects and make expertise from the Netherlands and the Nordic countries more accessible.
The signing ceremony at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Stockholm reflects the strong relationship between the Netherlands and the Nordic countries and a shared ambition to accelerate the development and implementation of innovative health technologies.
