Through four strategic impact domains, we provide clear focus to the way we address major societal challenges. Building on our scientific strengths and aligned with international and national transition agendas, we have identified Climate, Health, Safety & Security, and Chip Technology as our strategic priorities. These domains reflect urgent global challenges where technological and social innovation go hand in hand, and where the University of Twente can make a distinctive contribution.
The four impact domains serve as a compass for decisions in education, research, knowledge transfer and collaboration. They encourage interdisciplinary cooperation and bring together researchers, students, businesses, governments and societal organisations to develop and apply knowledge. As such, the domains provide a unifying framework that connects disciplines, faculties, institutes and external partners.
Within each impact domain, scientific insights are translated into practical solutions, applications and innovations that contribute to major societal transitions. In doing so, we help create a more sustainable and climate-resilient society, accessible and future-proof healthcare, a safe and resilient society, and key technologies that strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem.
