Our impact

The University of Twente aims to contribute to solutions for the major challenges of our time through education, research and innovation. As an entrepreneurial university, we bring together technology, people and society.

That is why, in the coming years, we will focus on four impact domains where we can make a distinctive contribution: Climate, Health, Safety & Security, and Chip Technology. Together with our students, staff and partners, we develop knowledge and innovations that contribute to a sustainable, safe, healthy and prosperous society.

Impact domains

Whether we are humanising healthcare, securing digital infrastructures, or driving the next generation of semiconductors, our focus remains on creating a resilient and inclusive society through multidisciplinary research and education. Explore our work across the four impact domains.

Ambitions

Our ambitions guide the choices we make. They show where we focus our knowledge, talent and collaborations to increase our impact on society.

Talent that makes a difference

We want to stimulate talent, resilience, and a sense of belonging, so that students and staff can reach their full potential and empower others, both at the UT and in society

Impactful science

We connect science and society. Through ‘High Tech, Human Touch,’ we combine technology with societal engagement and translate research into solutions for societal challenges.

For and with society

We bring people, knowledge, questions, and technology to the UT: ‘outside-in’ and ‘inside-out’. We deliberately invest in partnerships in education, research, and valorisation that strengthen our strategic position and enrich the UT ecosystem.
