Post Doc MATCH-project

The MATCH-project is aimed at analyzing the complex skill of ‘differentiation’ in primary school mathematics education and at developing and evaluating a differentiation training for teachers. Given the complexity of this skill, differentiation is analyzed by applying the 4C/ID model. This is done in two contexts: ‘traditional’ schools and innovative schools which intensively use ICT. The task analysis will be the basis for the development of a training trajectory, that will be implemented and evaluated in both traditional as well as ICT-rich schools.

Together with Trynke Keuning, Marieke van Geel evaluated the effects of a two-year Data-Based Decision Making intervention for primary school teams. A total of 101 schools participated in the project, aimed at implementing DBDM throughout the entire school organization.

Research questions focused on the effects of the intervention on: student achievement, educational leadership, achievement oriented school culture, participants’ data literacy, collaboration within the school, student perceptions of teacher quality.

Trynke Keuning & Marieke van Geel defended their PhD thesis Implementation and effects of a schoolwide data-based decision making intervention: a large-scale study on July 8th, 2016. The entire dissertation can be downloaded here:
