Two new UT Honours tracks for 1st year BSc students

Two new tracks will be added to the UT Honours offerings in February: ‘Philosophy’ and ‘Processes of Change.’ In the past, outstanding first year Bachelor students could choose from three Honours tracks: Science, Design and Maths. In 2016, a Philosophy and Processes-of- Change/Management track will be added.

All these 5 English, extracurricular Honours tracks last eighteen months. Mostly in the evenings, the students will follow courses during their second semester of their first year and throughout the entire second academic year, amounting to 30 ECTS credits (which, after successful completion, will appear on their BSc-degree certificates).

Students within the Philosophy track will be introduced to classical philosophers and to public speaking. The Processes-of-Change track addresses managing and consulting/coaching in human change processes at various levels in society. One learns about the effect changes may have within and between organisational units and people, for example in the event of mergers or reorganisations, and also how to deal with innovation. Students will also learn which roles they themselves can play best.

Coordinator prof.dr. Fokko Jan Dijksterhuis thinks that these two new tracks will more or less complete the BSc-Honours programme. We had already Research (Onderzoek) and Design (Ontwerp) tracks. A managerial (Organisatie) one and one in Philosophy has now been added.

Registration

A maximum of 25 honours students can follow each track. Selection will take place on the basis of previous study results and motivation. The new programme will commence in February 2016. An information meeting for all tracks will be held in Ravelijn on 6 January 2016 during the lunch break (start: 12.15): https://www.utwente.nl/excellentie/en/honours/
