Opening Centre for Monitoring and Coaching

On Tuesday, September 15th, the CTIT Centre for Monitoring and Coaching (CMC) will host its official opening to present itself to its stakeholders. The event will take place in the DesignLab at the University of Twente in The Gallery building.

The Centre for Monitoring and Coaching is a unique collaboration between the three research groups of Biomedical Signals and Systems, Human Media Interaction and Psychology, Health & Technology. The combined expertise of these groups is put to use to develop smart, innovative technological solutions for applied questions on health and well-being. A multidisciplinary collaboration that is a prime example of High-Tech, Human-Touch!

In order to efficiently design and develop ICT solutions that can take our healthcare system to the next level, we need to know about all the various aspects of the technologies and its context of use. Healthcare systems involve many different stakeholders, from all the different patient populations to the healthcare professionals and institutions. All these different stakeholders have different aims and requirements in using the system and need to interact with the technology in different ways. For example, when designing technology for the elderly, human-computer interaction is a very challenging issue. Finally, the future of healthcare and wellbeing will for a large part be based on the principles of self-management and prevention; two areas that fundamentally require insight into human behavior.

The Centre of Monitoring and Coaching brings together researchers to combine their knowledge in all the necessary domains to create the healthcare technology for the future.

The opening event on September the 15th can be attended by invited guests only. If you wish to know more about the Centre for Monitoring and coaching, have a look at the website: http://www.utwente.nl/cmc/ or follow us on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/cmcutwente
