Title: “How to quantify the ability of water supply reservoirs to deal with extreme drought events?”

Introduction for the presentation:

The frequency and severity of droughts is expected to change globally due to climate change. But even without climate change there is considerable uncertainty about the occurrence and the impact of extreme drought events. How to deal with this uncertainty in the management of drought risks? In this presentation, I will show how drought events can be characterised and how socio-economic drought impacts can be quantified for a water supply reservoir in the United States. The relationship between drought characteristics and impacts is considered to be useful information for decision makers in drought risk management. The aim of the lunch lecture is to discuss preliminary results. I invite you to come to listen and share your ideas.
