Education

Justus Eichstädt obtained a master degree in Photonic Studies, a ‘diploma’ degree and a certificate of apprenticeship in ophthalmic optics (graduated with an award for best alumnus in Photonics of 2008/09). After working as a development engineer he presently continues his scientific education in the field of applied laser technology at the University of Twente as PhD researcher.

Employment record

Alongside his scientific education, in the diploma and master program, he started as a working student in 2005 at Berliner Glas KGaA. After finishing the master program he continued as a development engineer at Berliner Glas KGaA in the Department Development of Manufacturing Technologies. In his present position as a PhD candidate at the Chair of Applied Laser Technology at the University of Twente he continues his work in the field of applied laser technologies with the focus on laser surface structuring. Next to national projects, the main research is performed in a European research project with the abbreviation NanoClean.

Research

His research interests are focused on the interaction of laser radiation with matter and its application as manufacturing technology. The aim of his research is to investigate the spatial emergence of laser-induced periodic surface structures under lateral displacement irradiation conditions. Those research activities are focused towards the transformation of laser machining processes into industrial applications.
