UT mission to Curitiba July 2016

From Tuesday 12 July until Saturday 16 July 2016, a three-­‐party delegation from the University of Twente will be visiting Curitiba to further shape the research agenda of the collaboration.

The members of the mission are:

Karst Geurs

Prof Karst Geurs is appointed Full Professor of Transport Planning at the Centre for Transport Studies (CTS) at the University of Twente. His research focuses on interactions between land use and transport, accessibility modelling and evaluation and the dynamics in travel behaviour. From 2009-­‐ 2013 he was Associated Professor at the CTS. He worked at the National Institute for Public Health and Environment from 1997 and moved to the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency in 2005. In 2006 he received his PhD at the Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University, the Netherlands, on accessibility appraisal of land-­‐use and transport policy strategies. He teaches master courses on Transport Policy and Planning, Land Use and Transport Interactions and Sustainable Transport within the Master Track Transport Engineering and Management.

Marcel Boogers

Prof Marcel Boogers holds the chair in Innovation and Regional Governance at the Public Administration Department at the University of Twente. His research focusses on the structure of and dynamics within networks of local and regional governments, production and service industries, higher education institutes and other third sector organizations. He studied Political Science at Radboud University Nijmegen, where he later defended a PhD thesis about public support for regional governance. Between 1997 and 2012, he worked as associate professor at Tilburg University. Marcel is co-­‐ director of the permanent study group Local Governance and Democracy of the European Group for Public Administration (EGPA) and member of the editorial board of the Dutch PA journal Bestuurswetenschappen.

He combines his position at the PA department with a position as senior advisor at consultancy firm BMC.

Maya van den Berg

Dr Maya van den Berg is coordinator of the Smart Cities Initiative at the University of Twente. Activities include the development of a joint research agenda, positioning the university at large and consolidate networks on this theme. Maya is coordinator of the University of Twente’s activities in Curitiba and she is the delegation leader.
