I am a mechanical engineer formed at The University of Los Andes in Venezuela, The University of Cassino in Italy and the University of Twente in The Netherlands.
During my bachelor studies in Venezuela, I got a mayor in fluid dynamics (applied to oil reservoir analysis) and a minor in applied computer aided design.
I did my internships at the university of Cassino, Italy, where I designed and constructed a robotic hand. The hand is commercially available.
I have a master degree in mechanical automation at the University of Twente, in the Netherlands. My master thesis resulted in a ready-for-industrial implementation control system for keeping high quality laser welds of zinc-coated steel plates.
I got my PhD degree at the University of Twente as well. My PhD researched the automation of design process, which was developed in close cooperation with several industrial partners. The most concrete results were a method for automating design and two computer tools that demonstrate the application of the method.
After my PhD, I continued as Assistant Professor at the same university. Both, during my PhD and in my current function I have been involved in applied research projects dealing with the general question of simplifying complex product creation processes.
My expertise includes management of design complexity, development and implementation of DFX methods, engineering knowledge elicitation and structuring, engineering modelling and leaning of design processes. multidisciplinary model integration.
Currently, I my research field is Product Development and my topic is Lean Product Development.
