Research Project Description

PDEng Design Project: Guidelines for developing BIM-related contract provisions

When builders and designers/subcontractors/suppliers use BIM to support their collaboration, the delivery of correct and reliable BIM data is of crucial importance. The BIM data from these parties, which are needed in the construction process of the builders (and vice versa), must be delivered timely, accurately and according to the desired level of information. The purchasing contract plays an important role in guaranteeing the delivery of the (correct) BIM data.

The goal of this project is to design guidelines for developing incentives and BIM-related agreements, which could be added to the contracts between builders on the one side, and designers, subcontractors and suppliers on the other side.
