Summary

Ibsen Chivatá Cárdenas is a researcher at the Department of Construction Management and Engineering of the University of Twente in the Netherlands. Currently appointed to the BENEFIT project (funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme under the grant agreement 635973). Responsible for research of governance factors that lead transportation projects to perform satisfactorily. Ibsen has more than ten years experience in research of risks to infrastructure projects and risks due to natural and man-made hazards. His research is particularly focused on uncertainty modelling and management of these risks. Ibsen is a Civil engineer and holds a MSc in Environment and Development from the National University of Colombia and a Doctorate from the University of Twente. His doctorate thesis was entitled ‘Integrating Knowledge for Managing Risk in Infrastructure Projects.’ His research interests include risk and uncertainty modelling and management for infrastructure assets, in environmental impact assessments, and for disaster risk reduction. Prior to his research career, Ibsen was involved for several years as a consultant and contractor in civil engineering projects and as a governmental auditor in Colombia.
