Biography

My name is Paul van Geffen and I was born in 1978 in Waarland, the Netherlands. I studied Human Movement Technology at the The Hague University (B.Sc. 2001) and Human Movement Science at the VU University of Amsterdam (M.Sc. 2004). Since January 2005, I am performing my Ph.D. research in the field of Biomechanical Engineering at the University of Twente (Enschede, The Netherlands). I am involved in the ‘Dynasit’ project in which we develop a dynamic seating system for subjects who cannot functionally reposition themselves. It is our goal to control body posture in long-term sitting and to regulate body load associated with sitting related mobility problems such as low back pain and pressure ulcers.
