IBM Smarter Planet on O & O Square March 10th 2011

O&O square – 10 March 2011

IBM Smarter Planet Tour comes to University of Twente

Over the past two years, IBM talked about what it takes to build a smarter planet. They’ve learned that our companies, our cities and our world are complex systems—indeed, systems of systems. Advancing these systems to be more instrumented, intelligent and interconnected requires a profound shift in management and governance toward far more collaborative approaches.

To make this shift the world needs professionals with a different set of skills. What are the skills for the 21st Century to build a smarter planet? IBM tours through Europe and visits 24 Universities in 12 countries, to start this discussion. The IBM skills truck will be at the campus of the University of Twente on 10 March.

Besides the truck, lectures will be given by IBM, business partners and University professors. The theme of the day is ‘Smarter Cities’. The content of the lectures will be of interest to students, researchers and employees of all faculties.

During the day, innovative solutions and technologies will be presented, demonstrated and discussed. The Skills Truck will be based on campus, enabling you to meet with IBM's experts, play ‘serious’ games and learn about new and exciting technologies.

Visit the IBM Skills Truck on campus and:

  • Watch Smarter Planet demonstrations
  • Meet the subject matter experts
  • See and play the Innov8 BPM and CityOne games
  • Find out about graduate opportunities with IBM
  • Learn about the Student Portaland Student Opportunity System
  • Find out what IBM's Academic Initiative is about
  • Opportunity to win an MP3 player!

Can you beat your European fellow students?
