Raluca Marin-Perianu has received the Christiaan Huygens Award 2009

On October 7, 2009, Raluca Marin-Perianu has received the prestigious Christiaan Huygens Award 2009 in the scientific area Information and Communication Technology. She received the Award, consisting of € 10.000, a certificate and a sculpture, for her PhD research within the Pervasive Systems group.

And on October 8, 2009 she ended with the second prize of the STW Simon Stevin Gezel Award!


Raluca Marin-Perianu received her engineer degree in computer science in 2002. During spring 2002, she was a visiting researcher at Ecole Supérieure d’Electricité (Supélec) Paris, where she completed her final studies project.

Since 2004 she has been PhD student at the Computer Science Department of the University of Twente, the Netherlands. During summer 2007, she was an academic guest at Wearable Computing Lab, ETH Zürich.

Her research interest are in the fields of wireless sensor and actuator networks, movement sensors and service discovery protocols. Raluca has been involved in the Smart Surroundings and Featherlight Dutch projects, and e-Sense European project. She graduated in 2008 on her thesis: “Wireless Sensor Networks in Motion - Clustering Algorithms for Service Discovery and Provisioning”.
