21 Jun 2016 - TNO and University of Twente launch i-Botics open innovation center TNO and the University of Twente will join forces in the field of robotics in the newly founded open innovation center i-Botics. Within the open innovation center, valorization activities will be pursued in the field of exoskeletons and telerobotics. Paul de Krom (CEO at TNO) Jos Keurentjes (COO at TNO), Victor van der Chijs (president of the Executive Board of the University of Twente) and Ed Brinksma (Rector UT) signed the collaboration agreement on 21 June, paving the way to a closer collaboration and exchange of knowledge between the research institutes and the industry. 
21 Jun 2016 - Open position: Assistant professor in Security The Department of Computer Science at the University of Twente, part of the Faculty EEMCS, is embedded in the ICT research Institute (CTIT). The department excels in the integration of ICT in its physical environment and in a human context. In cyber-physical systems, we study the seamless integration of software, networks and hardware devices. In human-centered computing, we study the effortless interaction of ICT with individuals and organizations. Obviously, in both areas, security and privacy concerns are dominant. 21 Jun 2016 - On June 29, 2016: Open Day in the Robotics and Mechatronics Lab In the Robotics & Mechatronics (RaM) Lab of University of Twente, researchers and students work on the newest developments in robotics. On June 29, 2016, there will be organised an Open Day! Take your chance and have a look at the future where robots help us with for example surgery, inspection and search and rescue operations. There will be about 10 robotic demonstrations. 6 Jun 2016 - Open call: NWO Innovative Grant Medium (NWO Middelgroot) Investment Grant NWO Medium Physical Sciences encourages Dutch universities, research institutes and libraries with a focus on the physical sciences to invest in innovative equipment or data collections of national or international importance. Therefore, NWO recently opened their annual call.  6 Jun 2016 - New STW Call: Open Mind 2016 Researchers often have plenty original ideas. The new funding programme Open Mind of STW offers the possibility to make this happen. Prerequisite is, that the proposal must have a clear societal application. The focus should be on innovative ideas not previously carried out within the research lines of the applicants. 6 Jun 2016 - Farewell Thea van der Geest and Lidwien van den Wijngaert After the summer, Thea van der Geest and Lidwien van de Wijngaert (department MCO/Communication Science) will continue their career at other institutions. Thea will extend her position at the Hogeschool Arnhem-Nijmegen as a lector (research professor) of Mediated Communication Design at the Informatica- and Communicatie Academie. Lidwien starts as professor of Communication and Information Studies at the Radboud University Nijmegen. They would like to bid farewell in an informal setting to all those people they have been working with in the past years. You are kindly invited for the farewell reception at 6 Jun 2016 - Smart Industry SI2016 Call – Smart Customized Solutions for Industrial Processes with Reliable and Safe Data Usage Technology foundation STW and research foundation NWO took the initiative for a joint call within the area of Smart Industry and Big Data. 3 Jun 2016 - Stan Gielen, new chair NWO Professor C.C.A.M. (Stan) Gielen will become chair of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) with effect from 1 January 2017. NWO is currently undergoing major changes.
