13 Apr 2016 - UT alumna Dr. Litska Strikwerda has won the Stichting Praemium Erasmianum dissertation award
Dr. Litska Strikwerda, who completed her dissertation at the University of Twente in 2014, has won the Stichting Praemium Erasmianum dissertation award. She is one of five your researchers in the Netherlands to win the award, and her dissertation was selected out of 42 dissertations that were submitted by Dutch universities in the fields of humanities, social sciences and law. The prize consists of an award of € 3000,-.
13 Apr 2016 - Twente’s Robird to make its first flight at airports
Twente’s Robird made its first flights at an airport location. Weeze Airport in Germany, just across the Dutch border near Nijmegen, served as the test site for this life-like robotic falcon developed by Clear Flight Solutions, a spin-off company of the University of Twente. The Robird is designed to scare away birds at airports and waste processing plants.

4 Apr 2016 - High-tech walking therapy on video floor
How can we make walking rehabilitation easier, more fun and more effective? This is the question that the University of Twente, De Hoogstraat Revalidatie, UMC Utrecht and LedGo have been working hard to answer in the past two years. LedGo is a world leader in interactive LED video floors and their work features in high-profile entertainment productions such as The Voice, Victoria’s Secret and the Eurovision Song Contest. This collaboration has resulted in a permanent LED video floor for rehabilitating patients to be installed in the DesignLab at the University of Twente Campus on 5 April.
1 Apr 2016 - Robot Spencer accompanies first passengers at Schiphol airport
After three years of building and programming, the first tests using guide robot Spencer were successfully conducted at Schiphol airport this month. The test phase was completed last week. Spencer, developed in cooperation with the University of Twente, has guided KLM passengers to the right gate at Schiphol airport for the first time. The robot has access to detailed maps of the airport and laser eyes that allow it to measure distances for example.
