Since 2007 Rob Klaassen works as a research consultant for the Public information and Communication Office of the Ministry of General Affairs. He is responsible for managing and executing communication research projects for all ministries.
Rob Klaassen is a government communication specialist. He wrote a PhD thesis on the design of government information campaigns and graduated in 2004. After that he conducted research into e-government applications. Projects included research into the quality of online information portals, the information needs and information seeking strategies of citizens, and methods for evaluating personalized electronic systems.
Since april 1st 2007 Rob Klaassen works as a researchsultant for the Public information and Communication Office of the Ministry of General Affairs. He isresponsible for managing and executing communication research projects for the national government.

Rob has been involved in multiple research projects for various ministeries. These included:
- Usability/eyetrack testing of the 'style guide' for ministerial corporate websites.
- Longitudinal study into ministerial websites' userprofiles ("webradar").
- Cross media evaluation of public information campaigns.
- Pilot studies into weblog monitoring and social media.
- User needs asessments and concepttesting for various websites
