Track 4: Converging technologies, general issues

Chair: ARMIN GRUNWALD

The new debate on Converging Technologies is rooted in activities on the social and ethical implications of nanotechnology and, since the Roco/Bainbridge-study, focused on the topic of human enhancement by technological means. However, there are other, more general topics which deserve attention, some of which have already been discussed in this context, such as:

·

Converging technologies, converging sciences: Technoscience and interdisciplinarity

·

How visions of convergence shape technoscience, politics and society

·

Converging Technologies and STS: conceptual and methodical challenges

·

Changing societies: Technology Assessment under conditions of uncertainty

·

The politics of convergent technologies - national and international cases

Theoretical investigations as well as empirical case studies observing these issues are invited to this section.
