Stop the leaking pipeline! The future of female academics

On International Women’s Day 2011 three speakers will give their vision on the future of female academics. What lessons and good practices of nurturing female academic talent can be identified from the past? What opportunities do universities have when female talent is to be developed? The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion, chaired by dr. ir. Mieke Boon, initiator and former chair of the FFNT-network.

Prof. dr. Robbert Dijkgraaf is President of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and Distinguished University Professor at the University of Amsterdam.

Dr. Dianne Dean is Associate Professor at Illinois State University and has published frequently about women and academic leadership.

Prof. dr. Suzanne Hulscher is Professor at the University of Twente and Chair of the Ambassadors’ Network; a committee that advises the Executive Board of the university on measures for promoting women to more senior positions.

Ir. Kees J. van Ast, the Vice-Chair of the UT Executive Board will open the event.

Vrijhof/Amphitheater, Tuesday 8 March, 15.00-17.00 hrs. The event will be followed by drinks.

This event is a co-production of the Female Faculty Network Twente (FFNT) and Studium Generale and is part of the program in honour of the 50th anniversary of the University of Twente.
