Expertise

After finishing my bachelor Biomedical Engineering (University of Twente) I completed my master Human Media Interaction at the University of Twente at the beginning of 2013 cum laude. During my master assignment I focused on evaluating behaviour change support systems (in this case increasing the physical activity level of users). I used various evaluation methods side by side and combined them.

The first of July 2013 I started working as a PhD student for the department Psychology, Health & Technology of the University of Twente.

Researchprojects

The overall objective of my PhD project is to examine the added value of a web based care platform (Mijn GezondheidsPlatform). This platform focuses on users with a chronic disease such as diabetes type 2, COPD, chronic heart failure or high blood pressure. The following research questions will be addressed:

1) Does MGP work as intended? (functioning and user-friendliness)

2) Who uses MGP in which extent and what is its usability? (usability, adherence, user profiles, user satisfaction)

3) What is the efficacy of MGP concerning self management and quality of live? (self management skills of users, disease activity quality of live)

4) What is the cost effectiveness of MGP from a social and caregivers perspective? ((cost) effectiveness))

The research questions above will be answered using qualitative and quantitative data about use, users and effectiveness consisting of: logdata, surveys, interviews and usability tests. This project is a collaboration between the University of Twente and Medicinfo (the creator of Mijn GezondheidsPlatform), Because of this, I work two days a week at Medicinfo in Tilburg.

My promotors are prof. dr. J.E.W.C. van Gemert-Pijnen, and prof. dr. R. (Robbert) Sanderman. Assistant-promotor is dr. L.M.A. (Annemarie) Braakman-Jansen. My supervisor from MedicInfo is Bart Brandenburg.
