Gabi Kaffka received her doctoraal (master’s) degree in the field of Sociology in 2007 at the University of Amsterdam. During her study, she won an ERASMUS scholarship and attended the university Paris VIII ST-Denis (France) to study sociology and political sciences. She also worked as a policy advisor at the Nationale Studentenvakbond (LSVb), the National Student Union of the Netherlands.

Between 2007 and 2008, Gabi Kaffka completed the traineeship of the municipality of Amsterdam in the function of policy advisor. From 2009 onwards she worked on various municipality-wide programs and projects. For example, Gabi was part of the Amsterdam team of an award-winning project of the European framework program, GRaBS. In 2010, Gabi started as a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Twente (Netherlands) which is her current position.


Her research focuses on the qualitative analysis of socially situated entrepreneurial cognition, in particular feedback and sense-making mechanisms which shape innovation and business opportunity development. In her studies, Gabi uses cognitive, constructivist and phenomenological theories. She has presented her research at various international conferences.
