Background

Annemieke Jeeninga-Witteveen finished her bachelor in Technical Medicine in 2012 at the University of Twente. In 2013 she completed the master Health Sciences with the track Health Services and Management. Her master thesis was titled "Effect of disease-free interval after breast cancer on survival”. After graduation, Annemieke started working as a PhD at the department of Health Technology and Services Research at the University of Twente.

Research

Frequency and duration of follow-up for patients with breast cancer are still under debate. Currently patients are followed clinically for at least five year after their treatment. Still, most of the recurrences are detected by the women themselves in between follow-up visits and some of them are detected after the five years of clinical follow-up. Moreover, the follow-up is the same for all patients and not dependent on the individual risk of developing a breast cancer recurrence. The aim of this project is to tailor the breast cancer follow-up to individual needs by using different modelling techniques. https://www.utwente.nl/influence/
