Beau Warbroek holds a Master’s degree (cum laude) in Public Administration specializing in Policy and Governance, and a Bachelor’s degree in European Studies at the University of Twente. As a PhD-student, Beau is currently researching what lessons can be learned from on-going local sustainability initiatives in Fryslân and the impacts of a living lab in a Leeuwarden residential area on raising awareness amongst city inhabitants in Leeuwarden on sustainability issues and healthy lifestyles.
Beau Warbroek started his academic career by contributing to a FP7 project COMPLEX, lead by CSTM department of the Twente University. His contribution (bachelor thesis) looked into the effectiveness of policy instruments stimulating renewable energy. His master thesis, as a predecessor for his work as a PhD-student, looked into what factors impact the degree of success of the implementation of local renewable energy initiatives in Overijssel. His master thesis also proved to be of support for the COMPLEX project. During his master program Beau, as a Student Researcher at STePS, retrieved and analyzed policy documents of Dutch key players in the field of Responsible Research and Innovation for another FP7 project: ReS-AGorA.
