UL-Wiklund is a Human Factors Engineering (HFE) consulting team that helps clients develop safe, usable, and satisfying products, as well as analyze complex human interactions. Many of our clients produce consumer products, but we are specialized in usability and use-safety evaluation of medical devices. The services we frequently provide to our clients include user research (e.g., user observations, user interviews, benchmark tests), design support (e.g., user interface design, user interface prototyping, infographics), HFE evaluation (e.g., usability testing, heuristic analysis, design critique, forensic analysis), HFE support (e.g., HFE program planning, training).
Our European office is located in Utrecht and we also have an office in Concord, near Boston, USA. In total, our team includes 30 staff members, of which six are based in Utrecht. We have a creative and energetic team, which comprises various backgrounds in human factors/ergonomics, psychology, and design engineering.
We currently have a position available for an intern to support our Utrecht office. We are looking for an MSc student who has a passion for usability and human factors. Excellent English verbal and writing skills and the ability to multi-task are important. Experience with user interface design is a plus.
As an intern you will be involved in some or all of the following activities: participate in conducting usability tests; collect and analyze data of various user research activities; contribute to human factors reviews of user interfaces (hardware, software, and documents); write portions of technical proposals, reports, user interface specifications; and/or contribute to client presentations led by project directors. As we serve clients that operate worldwide, we might ask you to travel to client facilities or user research venues within Europe and abroad.
Although most of our work is project based and on short-term client request, we also welcome applications to perform an MSc thesis project within UL-Wiklund. We can jointly determine a suitable project topic.
