Summer School 2005, 4 - 8 July 2005, Vilnius, Lithuania
For the fifth year in a row CHEPS has organised its annual international summer school for PhD candidates in higher education. This year the summer school focused on one of the most striking developments in higher education world wide, the blurring of boundaries between public and private spheres. This discussion goes much further than the definition of higher education as a public or a private good. Ultimately it is a fundamental discussion about the role of higher education and the relation between universities and their environments. Examples of developments being discussed are the rise of private institutions, the increasing global competition for higher education, the intensifying relations between industry and higher education in R&D and the changing relations between states and universities.
The 2005 summer school took place from 4 to 8 July in Vilnius, Lithuania.
