Transforming of universities

The basic research questions of this project concern the interpretation of higher education institutions of pressures from the external environment and their strategic responses. The project contributes to the complex and ongoing discussion of change in higher education driven by both internal and external forces. Higher education institutions must rethink their strategy and structure in response to these forces. As a consequence the institutions may be transformed, for instance, into networked institutions. Together with our colleagues from CIPES (Portugal) and UNE (Australia) we will use stakeholder theory to answer the research questions. We will make a three country comparison, in which at least six case studies are conducted. Outputs will be some joint articles as well as stimulating presentations at international conferences (e.g. a roundtable at AEIR in Rome 2006)
