PUNCHE project – Uganda

PUNCHE (Partnership with Ugandan National Council for Higher Education (2005-2007) is a three-year project funded by the Dutch Ministry of Development Cooperation’s NPT programme.

The goal of the project is to strengthen the capacity of the NCHE. The Council, established in 2003, has been given the monumental task of implementing a number of substantial reforms in Ugandan higher education: a system devastated in the past by political upheaval and challenged today by rapidly expanding demand. Activities are being undertaken in the field of labour market studies, quality assurance, credit transfer, capacity development and information provision. CHEPS is working in close cooperation with the Council and is also drawing on experience from other experts in Africa.
