Public / private funding of higher education: a social balance
The project’s objective is to quantify for six countries the real and full monetary value of all direct and indirect public and private monetary flows and contributions in kind for higher education. The share of private and public costs will be calculated for students of different social origin, reflecting social disparity and social exclusion. The cost-sharing strategy is seen as the constituent basis for shaping a more socially-based approach for economic enhancement in the European Higher Education Area.
The main activities include the calculation of the share of costs at national level for social prototype cases, the comparison and interpretation of these indicators and national differences in terms of their impact on equity and excellence goals, and dissemination of results in a report and at a major conference.
