Institutional Quality Assurance Lithuania
The Lithuanian Center for Quality Assessment in Higher Education wishes to complement the current quality assessment procedures with a general scheme for institutional evaluation of universities and research institutions. Stress is placed on the coherence between internal and external aspects of such a scheme (self-evaluation and external review), on intra-institutional coherence of internal quality assurance, and on inter-institutional coherence of external reviews. The new, institutional evaluation scheme aims in the first place at improvement of quality in higher education and research institutions; these institutional evaluations will not lead to accreditation. The relation with programme assessment will therefore be complementary (i.e. both will continue to exist, with partly different purposes).
