A European classification of higher education institutions

This project (funded by the SOCRATES programme) investigates the possibilities to develop a European classification of higher education institutions. Present-day European developments challenge those involve to answer the question whether there is a need – from the perspective of different stakeholders: students, governments, higher education institutions, employers – for an overall classification that will exist next to national classifications but will provide a surplus value in terms of, for instance, transparency, increasing mobility, and policy effectiveness.
