Background

In the debate on command-and-control vs. economic incentive policy instruments for environmental protection, often too little attention is paid to careful ex post analyses and comparisons of instruments in actual practice.

Objectives

In this project several pairwise comparisons are made. Each comparison is made by teams from the US and Europe. On the field of water management a comparison is made between US direct regulation (RFF) and Dutch effluent charges (CSTM).
