Background
The Aquaterra NL project focuses on the use and usability of science knowledge in decision making in water-management projects. Managers can find it difficult to match knowledge from scientists to the policy-making process—scientific knowledge cannot be easily applied to everyday practice in water management. As well, managers can find it very difficult to formulate their questions and concerns to the scientific community in a way that produces the results they need.
Objectives
By studying the use of knowledge in decision-making and policy-making processes, the project will attempt to identify the institutional conditions which stimulate or obstruct knowledge transfer and utilization.
