Catalysis for sustainable processes for fuels and chemicals

A different approach in the search for new feedstock is the application of bio-related materials, like organic waste, crops like rape-seed oil and bio-oil produced via flash-pyrolysis of biomass. However, the use of bio-related feedstock for production of energy carriers and chemical products asks for development of new catalytic materials and processes since traditional catalysts cannot be used due to different reactant composition and reaction conditions that are needed. We have recently started new projects in this area in collaboration with other groups within IMPACT. Further, research activities on catalysts for cleaning of feedstock as well as cleaning of waste streams are taking place.
