14th IRTG, successful two-day workshop on 31st October

14th IRTG (International Research Training Group “Diffusion in Porous Materials”) workshop organized at University of Twente

Catalytic Processes and Materials (CPM) group affiliated to the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology at the University of Twente organized a successful two-day workshop on 31stOctober and 1st November at the Drienerburght Conference Hotel. The topical theme of this workshop was “Diffusion in Liquid Phase”.

These workshops, held biannually, form the key element of the teaching program at IRTG. The aim of the IRTG “Diffusion in Porous Materials” is bringing together the expertise of world leading scientists from the Netherlands Institute for Catalysis Research (NIOK) and the Leipzig University to establish a consortium, which offers unique prospects to young, talented students to combine research and education in the field of molecular mass transfer in porous media. The consortium involves expertise in all major areas of the broad field of diffusion in porous materials, including but not limited to theoretical fundamentals, sophisticated measuring techniques, the fabrication know-how of high-tech materials and their application in advanced technologies. In addition, it is the ideal opportunity for all IRTG members to discuss their results and plan the continuation of their co-operations. At each workshop, the Ph.D. students present their recent experimental results, which are then discussed between all IRTG members.

At the 14th chapter of workshop, various prominent international speakers delivered the keynote lectures at the workshop, which were received with great enthusiasm by the participating PhD students and others. The visit to the new NanoLab established at the University of Twente was also inspirational to the participants and offered them the insights into the high tech clean-room technology.
