SBMS
The ECTM offers the postgraduate course ‘SBMS’ in association with the Wenckebach Institute in Groningen. SBMS is the Dutch abbreviation for a ‘Systematic Approach of medical emergency situations’. The SBMS course is a competency-based training in the systematic approach of acute care situations and is aimed at postgraduate medical trainees who are involved in critical/acute care medicine. It is focused on the recognition and treatment of acute ill patients using a structured (ABCDE) approach which will lead to adequate patient care and safety. The course consists of two separate training days, of which a large amount of time is used as hands-on time on a human patient simulator. In addition, airway management is part of the course and it is concluded with a multiple choice test. When the course is successfully concluded, the participant receives a certificate.
Each course allows a maximum of 6 participants. Further information and registration is available via our secretariat (pao-tg@utwente.nl).
