Taiwan Fellowship & Scholarships (TAFS) program

The Taiwan Fellowship & Scholarships (TAFS) program is a Republic of China government initiative aimed to promote relevant research, educational links and enduring friendship between Taiwan and the global community.

The TAFS comprises 9 awards in 3 categories: fellowships, Huayu (Mandarin), Enrichment Scholarships and Scholarships for Degree. Approximately 1,250 grants are provided annually for undergraduate and postgraduate students as well researchers across the world to study or to conduct advanced research in Taiwan. MOFA Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarship

Duration: 6 months – 12 months

·

Monthly stipend: NT$ 25,0000

·

Includes one direct round-trip economy-class ticket

Ministry of Education (MOE) Huayu Enrichment Scholarship

·

Duration: summer classes (2 months), 3, 6, 9 months and 1 year

·

Monthly stipend: NT$ 25,000

MOFA Taiwan scholarship

·

Duration: undergraduate program (max 4 years), master’s (max 2 years), Ph.D. (max 3 years), pre-degree Mandarin Language Exchange Program (max 2 year) available

·

Monthly stipend: NT$ 30,000

·

Includes one direct round-trip economy-class ticket

MOE Taiwan Scholarship

·

Duration: undergraduate program (max 4 years), master’s (max 2 years), Ph.D. (max 4 years)

·

Monthly stipend: NT$ 15,000 (undergraduate) or NT$ 20,000 (postgraduate)

·

Waiver of tuition fees and certain fees up to NT$ 40,000

·

Recipients can only study at universities participating in the Taiwan Scholarship Program Union

Academia Sinica Taiwan International Graduate Program

·

Duration: Ph.D. program (max 3 years)

·

Monthly stipend: NT$ 32,000

·

Recipients can only be enrolled in one of the 8 highly specialized interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs run in collaboration with 7 research universities in Taiwan

·

Fields: life sciences, mathematics and earth system science.

Taiwan ICDF Scholarship

·

Duration: undergraduate program (max 4 years), master’s (max 2 years), Ph.D. (max 3 years)

·

Monthly stipend: NT$ 12,000 (undergraduate) or NT$ 15,000 (masters), NT$ 17,000 (Ph.D.)

·

Book costs, credit fees, housing and insurance covered

·

Fields: medicine, engineering, business administration and technology

·

Recipients can only be enrolled in one of the 24 full English programs in one of 17 universities.

·

Includes one direct round-trip economy-class ticket

MOFA Taiwan fellowship

·

Duration: 3 months – 12 months

·

Monthly stipend: NT$ 60,000 for professors, associate professors, research fellows or associate research fellows, NT$ 50,000 for assistant professors, assistant research fellows, or doctoral candidates.

·

Fields: social sciences regarding Taiwan or other aspects of Sinology

·

Includes one direct round-trip economy-class ticket

MOE Short Term Research Award

·

Duration: 2 months – 6 months

·

Monthly stipend: NT$ 25,000

·

Fields: Taiwan culture, social sciences

·

Includes one direct round-trip economy-class ticket

Research Grant for Foreign Scholar in Chinese Studies

·

Duration: 3 months – 12 months

·

Monthly stipend: NT$ 60,000 for professors, NT$ 50,000 for associate professors or doctoral candidates.

·

Fields: Chinese studies

·

Includes one direct round-trip economy-class ticket
