Maintaining quality standards |
The purpose of this external project is to gain valuable learning experience. Therefore, both the training position and the Bachelor’s assignment must meet with various demands. This is checked in advance by the co-ordinator. Also, after completing the external project the opinion of the mentor, the supervising lecturer and the student is taken into account in order to establish whether the external project was completed or conducted satisfactorily. In order to maintain the quality standards the following aspects will come up before the actual start of the external project:
· |
The employer writes a project proposal. |
· |
The co-ordinator chooses (possibly in deliberation with the student) a supervising lecturer who is capable to evaluate the external project and can give support if needed. |
· |
The co-ordinator (in deliberation with the supervising lecturer) assesses if the external project meets the objective. |
· |
The student discusses the work plan with the supervising lecturer and (if needed) makes some changes before leaving. |
During the external project the following steps are taken in order to maintain quality standards:
· |
The student informs the co-ordinator and/or the supervising lecturer if he/she finds that the project intended does not meet with the expectations, if the infrastructure is insufficient, or if the supervision fails. Together they will decide if the student will continue with the assignment. |
· |
The mentor gives his judgment in accordance with appendix 3A or appendix 3B (English) or through the programme specific forms. |
After the external project the following steps are taken in order to maintain the quality standards:
· |
The student hands over the report and the assessment by the mentor to the supervising lecturer immediate after the external project. |
· |
he student hands over their own evaluation form (appendix 4 or the programme specific form) to the co-ordinator. |
· |
The student will have a final discussion with the co-ordinator at most of the programmes. |
By giving attention to the aspects mentioned above the university tries to keep the quality and level of the external project as high as possible and also strives to continually improve this process by reviewing current practices.
