Presentation Skills
Aim
Acquiring basic techniques to improve presentation skills. Participants learn general rules for structuring a presentation, what they should do and should not do in a presentation and how to deal with nerves. The course is very hands-on and offers ample opportunity for practice.
Aimed at
This course is aimed at people who have not had previous instruction on presentation techniques, or who have had little opportunity to practice their presentation skills. English language proficiency at level CEF B2 or higher (Common European Framework) is required.

Organisation
Lessons take place in small groups of 5-6 participants. In each lesson the participants deliver a short presentation for practice, and receive feedback from peers and from the teacher. The participants can take home video-recordings of their presentations, to watch them in private. Homework consists of preparing the presentations and of a number of study assignments.
Other information
This course is the basis for a number of workshops that focus on specific aspects of presentation skills, such as presenting in a foreign language, speaking skills in an educational setting, presenting a thesis or speaking at a conference.
Study load
Participants are expected to attend all lessons. The course takes place during three consecutive weeks, each lesson lasting three hours. Self-study time: approx. three hours a week. Total study load is 1 ECTS.
