Intake
Every student who makes an appointment first needs to have an interview on admission.
In this interview together we try to place your problem in context. Often after this interview the best way to deal with the problem can be determined. This can be e.g. career counselling, study counselling or doing a self management course. It is also possible that the student counselor suggest having some more appointments. The student decides if he/she wants more than on appointment.
Follow-up
If the student psychologist expects help can be offered within the office, some more individual appointments can be made or a group session can be suggested. Otherwise the possibility of reference to external help will be discussed. In case of a waiting list, you can temporarily keep contact with the student psychologist.
Group conversation
Students who often feel unhappy or discontent about themselves or relations with others can join group conversation. This group is also option if your contacts within the UT are limited because a big deal of your life takes place in your hometown.
The group offers you the possibility to talk with contemporaries or fellow-sufferers. Matters often discussed are: dealing with friendships, expressing emotions, standing up for yourself and feeling gloomy.
A group consists of 7 or 8 persons and will gather almost the entire year on a fixed time. After a one-time consultation with the student psychologist participation can start.
Psychological examination
At the request of a student and if there is an indication for it, it is possible to undergo a psychological examination in relation to choice of career/study or capacities. First the indented purpose will be discussed before a research program is set up.
Sometimes a psychological examination can be suggested to determine which the best treatment is. The results will always be discussed with the student.
Privacy
