7.10.08 Sunago in the synagoge
On Tuesday 7th October, we, three students who did not know each other before and I visited the synagogue in Enschede. We enjoyed the quite erudite tour. The history of the Jews in Twente and of their synagogue (assembly) was the specialization of our guide. A very interesting and enriching experience it was to be able to admire the intricate architecture and to hear the stories underlying the symbols and objects. Afterwards, we had a cup of tea/coffee with a piece of spice cake (kosher of course!), and then biked together to the campus where we had a meal at the mensa. A good opportunity to talk it over. We shall be visiting a mosque soon. The programme will be more or less the same. First a guided tour and then eating together (the expenses are for SPe). Let me know whether you are coming or keep an eye on the agenda en I’ll see you there! spe@disc.utwente.nl Best regards, Roshnee Ossewaarde (Interim student chaplain SPe) |
