Please note that for the calendar years 2016 - 2020 the days on which the University of Twente will be closed ("bridge days") have not been formally confirmed yet. The calendars below anticipate on the intention of these closing days to close the university on the Friday after Ascension Day and around the turn of the year for reasons of efficiency.
In most European countries, a numbered week runs from Monday until and including Sunday. In the United States, however, a numbered week runs from Sunday until and including Saturday.*)
For your convenience, both versions are published below.
*) This is not the only difference between Europe and the United States. In the USA, week numbers run until and including December 31st, in a week that (generally) is week 53 of the "old" year as well as week 1 of the "new" year. Once every 28 years - in the leap years starting on Saturday, January 1st - this causes Sunday, December 31st, to be in week 54 of that year. As a result, the functions WEEKNUM and WEEKDAY in Excel do not fully comply with European standards.
