Companies
In consultation with your organization, the PDEng-programme in Energy and Process Technology at Twente University educates people who will be able to design high quality, creative, innovative designs for technological issues in a multidisciplinary character.
While the trainee is working in your organization, he/she will do research on a project your organization has predetermined. Possible topics of a design project are in the nutrition-, energy and process industry. Examples are: sustainable energy and sources, designing for process control and designing for ‘green’ process technology. To design things like this a multidisciplinary approach is required, where quality, environment, safety, sustainability and reliability will meet. During the project, your organization will get familiar the trainee and can determine if he/she fits within the organization when the project has ended. Many of our graduates have found challenging jobs with the most exciting companies.
Excellent designers
The trainees all have a master degree in engineering, but comparing to a regular Master’s programme, the PDEng-programme has more advantages. Your organization can get access to a trainee who is very able to switch quickly between different levels. They have a wider range of skills in creativity and thinking out-of-the-box and they are able to make better connections between different disciplines and integrate them into a design. Within the track there will be ample attention on professional development. The selection procedure for this PDEng Energy and Process Technology is very strict, so your organization will get only the best MSc graduates.
Financing
The educational programme is paid by your organization. Besides, there are basically two possibilities: 1) the trainee is on payroll of the organization, or 2) the trainee is on payroll of the University. Other solutions are also possible, and can be negotiated in consultation with your organization and the University of Twente.
Design-based Learning and practice performance
The regular PDEng programme is a combination of education and designing in two years. The tailored curriculum consists of lectures, courses, self-study, performing a number of short projects, and a major design project. The focus of the programme is on design, however there are lots of possible choices for specialization in a specific field. Your organization will come up with topics for the major design projects. The newly gained knowledge can directly be applied within his project at your organization. Meanwhile, the trainee develops his/her professional skills like project management, presentation and conflict management.
Tailored programme
The starting point for the programme is that the trainee, the set of courses and the expert coaching will come together with only one thought: ‘the best possible solution for the design problem of your organization’. Therefore, the trainee, the composition of the curriculum and the choice of accompanying professor will be made together with your organization. Does your organization already have a suitable candidate? That’s possible too.
