Energy and Proces Technology
Large projects for Energy and Process Technology are getting a more and more complex character. Therefore the market asks for high qualified designers who have knowledge about different kind of technical and non-technical aspects of contemporary issues. But above all the market asks for employees who know how to work properly in a multidisciplinary design team and dealing with solving complex issues are really needed.
Since 1990 a lot of companies have been using the designer training of Twente University’s Process Technology (TWAIO-track). Because of this track highly qualified process engineers are available for companies. Recent graduated of the PDEng programme in Process Technology function very well. The track has been re-launched and is now up to date by adding a focus on Energy Technology.
The PDEng programme in Energy and Process Technology focuses on creating technological solutions for products and processes in nutrition, energy and the process industry. The programme is based on functional and market based requirements and focuses on quality, environment en sustainability. A methodological approach, which tackles the always present uncertainties, always comes first.
Employers of graduates of this PDEng programme are often the organizations were the trainees do their design assignments. The branches of these organizations varies from large multinationals to smaller companies in the energy-, process- and nutrition sector. Also engineer companies and energy-generating companies have shown their interest.
The selection procedure for the PDEng programme in Energy and Process Technology is strict: only the best MSc graduates will be admitted. Graduates of this programme distinguish themselves from MSc graduates by switching quicker between different levels (zoom in on details and back to the bigger picture of the design), a wider range of skills by being creative and out-of-the-box thinking, better able to see the connection between different disciplines and integrate them into the design.
Certification
On successfully completing the programme, the trainee will receive a certified, and recognized degree. He/she will be entitled to use the academic degree Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng) and will be registered as a Technological Designer in the Dutch register kept by the Royal Institution of Engineers in the Netherlands (KIVINIRIA). The quality of the programmes is assured by an assessment and certification procedure on behalf of the Dutch Certification Committee for Courses to become Technological Designer (CCTO, Nederlandse Certificatie Commissie voor Opleidingen tot Technologisch Ontwerper).
