Overview of the Programme (incl. courses)
The PDEng programme in Civil Engineering is a two year programme that consists of three blocks: a compulsory block, a project specific specialization block and the Designer project. These blocks run parallel to each other. The compulsory block provides the basics in designing and professional skills by means of the course in Systems Engineering and a selection of Professional Development courses. These professional development courses can be merged by the trainee himself. The specialization block is a completely elective block, and allows both the organization and the students to narrow their focus to the key areas of the expertise at the organization. See below for the complete range of elective courses.
The main part of the PDEng programme is the practical part, by working on the assignment at the organization. This project is problem-oriented and takes the form of a design.

Electives during the Specialisation Block
The specialization block of the PDEng programme in Civil Engineering consists of six courses, of which the student must choose two. All these courses consist of an educational part (often including assignments or a project) and an additional part, specific for the PDEng trainee. This additional part guarantees that these courses are on a post-MSc-level.
Courses:
· |
Collaborative Design and Engineering |
· |
Integrated Global Project Management |
· |
Mathematical Physics or Water Systems |
· |
Data analysis in Water Engineering and Management |
· |
Mathematical Optimization in transport |
· |
Traffic Operations |
Students who attended the courses mentioned above during their MSc program had included, can replace these courses by other civil engineering courses of 5-7.5 EC. These students have to do two PDEng-specific assignments, linked to the two subjects of their choice listed above.
