Trainee program

The regular programme means that a Civil Engineering designer attends a combination of education and a solution on a design problem. The customised curriculum consists of courses, self-study, doing some small projects and one major project (of 60ECTS). The main focus is on designing, but there are plenty of choices for a specialization in the field of civil engineering. The topics will be predetermined by the organization, and the major project will be done at the organization. The educational programme focuses on broadening and in-depth field specific knowledge with ample attention for professional development of the trainee.

Broadening

Trainees can - together with the organization and supervising professor- choose from a wide range of courses focused on broadening knowledge; for example on management, environment, safety, ergonomic and risk management.

In-Depth

Trainees will learn the latest civil technical knowledge about the project’s subject. Because the subject of the design project will be different, the curriculum is not predetermined. But one can think of ‘application of modern materials’, ‘innovations in constructions’, ‘advanced simulation techniques for civil designs’, ‘new applications of sustainable energy’ and ‘eco-engineering’.

Professional development

This could include project management, time management, presentation skills, conflict management, negotiation, ethics, technical writing, intercultural cooperation, feedback and reflection and meeting techniques.
