Purchase and support of mobile telephones and tablets
ICTS has harmonised the support of mobile telephones and tablets for the entirety of the UT. Starting January 1st 2012, employees can present all of their questions and problems concerning the business-related use of mobile telephone services and tablets. From now on, the user assistance that was still partially offered from the Spiegel building will also be provided by the ICTS Servicedesk at de Horst.
By standardisation based on a number of selected types of telephone and operating systems, ICTS can ensure its service is more efficiently arranged and is brought in line with the service for notebooks and desktop computers. This has led to the following selection of devices, support-types and order options.
UT selection mobile telephones
The University of Twente offers you three models: basic, all-round and high end.

Basic model: Simple mobile telephone, simply for calling and texting (SMS). |

All-round smart phone: Can be synchronised with your Outlook e-mail, calendar and contacts; websurfing, web apps etc. Complies with all functional demands for business use. |

High end model: Superior in ease of use, versatility and available apps, trendy design. |

Developments in the mobile telephone market are moving fast. ICTS monitors this market and updates the standard selection several times each year, as well as altering its services when necessary.
UT selection tablets
For the time being, the University of Twente has chosen exclusively for the Apple iPad2.
The developments in the area of tablets come very rapidly. Apart from Apple's iPads, there is a strong rise for tablets using the Android operating system and there will be new tablets on the market this year that utilise the new version of Microsoft Windows. ICTS will continue to monitor this market and will add other types of tablet to the standard selection when appropriate.

User assistance for UT selection mobile telephones and tablets
ICTS offers the following support to employees using a tablet or telephone from the UT selection:

Delivery of a ready-to-use device that has been set-up for the ICT-infrastructure at the University of Twente. |

A sharply priced device via the UT purchase contract. |
· |
Extensive first and second line support: |
Expertise and support are available at the ICTS Servicedesk in the Horst building.
ICTS has service specimens of these devices in stock. If problems occur during the two-year warranty-period, the you can report this at the ICTS Servicedesk for direct assistance. Should repairs be necessary, a loan device will be made available. ICTS will subsequently take care that the defective device is repaired.

User assistance for devices outside UT selection and private property devices
For employees using a device that is not part of the UT selection and was purchased after February 1st 2012, or for employees with a device that is their private property but is also used for business purposes, ICTS offers the following support:

Limited first line support: |
Employees with questions or problems related to primary processes can refer their questions to the ICTS Servicedesk at de Horst. A general guideline here is that the problem must be able to be solved within 10 minutes. If the issue takes longer to solve, this will in principle be charged to the your faculty or service.

Configuration information for self service: |
The ICTS website will provide the information you need to enter into your device.
This makes it possible for you to configure your device for use of the UT facilities like email, storage and web services.
How can I order a mobile telephone or tablet?

By entering the following information on a purchase request (OTA) form: |

The type of device. |
· |
The phone number that is already owned or the new desired subscription type (does not apply to the iPad2 without 3G). |

The OFI number. |
· |
The name of the person who is financially accountable. |

Send this form, along with the agreement of the financially accountable person, per e-mail to icts.servicedesk@utwente.nl. |
ICTS Servicedesk will then take care of the co-ordination of:

If applicable, the entering into a new subscription. |

Setting the device up for use of the ICT infrastructure of the UT. |
