Institute Council

In September, the first Institute council of MIRA was established. As MIRA includes the research activities of the faculties TNW, EWI, CTW and MB, the Institute Council includes staff representatives from the faculties involved. Currently, the following staff members have been installed in the Institute Council for the next 2 years:

·	Michelle Heijblom, chair (BMPI, TNW)

·	Janine Post, deputy chair (DBE, TNW)

·	Jeroen Rouwkema, secretary (BME, CTW)

·	Ciska Heida, member (BSS, EWI)

·	Lotte Vrijhoef-Steuten, member (HTSR, MB)

Participation (in Dutch Medezeggenschap) is very important at the University of Twente. The Institute Council (in Dutch Instituutsraad, IR) can influence and help shape MIRA’s policy. The Institute Council advises the Scientific Director about:

·	The research program and the strategic research orientations

·	The research institute’s budget
