Press Release: NanoforumEULA releases preliminary programme workshop 23 August in Cancun and fact finding mission 24-30 August 2007 in Mexico

Utrecht, 8 May 2007, NanoforumEULA organizes a workshop on Priorities in Nanomaterials Research in Latin America and Europe in Cancun, in conjunction with XVI International Materials Research Congress, 23 August 2007. The participants’ fee is free for this workshop, and the normal fee for attending XVI IMRC congress (to be paid directly to the IMRC organizers). The aim of the workshop is to stimulate Euro-Latin American nanotechnology R&D collaborations under the EU 7th Framework programme. Invited speakers from Europe and Latin America present ongoing nanotechnology collaborations, and attendees are offered 5 minutes to present their own collaboration proposal to potential partners.

Immediately after the workshop (24-30 August 2007), NanoforumEULA organizes a fact finding mission for European researchers and industrialists along major Mexican nanotechnology research organizations and companies. This tour enables face to face meetings with potential partners, insight in the available infrastructure and information on relevant aspects including IPR, research policy and potential Mexican markets for nanotechnology based products. Participation is free of charge, participants are just expected to pay their own travel and subsistence.

About NANOFORUMEULA

This Specific Support Action Nanoforum EU Latin America is funded by the European Union under the Sixth EU Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development; Nanotechnologies and Nanosciences, Knowledge Based Multifunctional Materials and New Production Processes and Devices (FP6, NMP). See http://cordis.europa.eu/nanotechnology. The project aims to foster lasting research relations between European research organisations and research organisations in Latin America specialising in nanotechnology. We subsidise exchange visits for some twenty Latin American researchers to four European research organisations specialising in nanotechnology. We organise two workshops and subsequent fact finding missions in Mexico and Brazil enabling European researchers and industrialists to identify opportunities for establishing working relations.
