Business Accelerators are links between research and market. Which technologies are promising? Are we catering to current market demands? What opportunities are there to commercialize research results? At MESA+ there is also a business accelerator active on behalf of UT International Ventures. Paul Nederkoorn manages the MESA+ business accelerator. A business accelerator initiates business development and brings market- and entrepreneur experience and possibly financing along.

Affiliated with a UT research institute, business accelerators focus on the rapid application of knowledge to business situations. In this role, the accelerators supervise entrepreneurial scientists in order to, for example, shorten the developmental lead time of promising spin-off companies and provide knowledge institutes with feedback on relevant market trends.

The combination of technology, commerce and capital leads to the development of more and larger spin-off companies at MESA+ and in Twente and, consequently, the creation of high-quality employment opportunities.
